I need the help of an Italian speaker to translate a minute of dialogue into English so I can add subtitles to a movie. If anyone is willing to help that would be great :).

The movie is Roberto Benigni's 'The Tiger and the Snow'. There is an Italian Blu-Ray but it doesn't have English audio or subtitles. I downloaded an English subtitle file online and thankfully it's mostly accurate. I've been through it and corrected spelling mistakes but a couple of areas are clearly not right which is why I need the help. It's a lovely film and I want to be able to watch it properly.

In this ^ clip. The Subtitles read...

Fuad - Vittoria! Your book.
Vittoria - Oh, thank you.
Vittoria - I'm losing my mind.

Fuad - Do you have time for dinner?
Attilio - Let's have dinner together.

...but there are clearly many untranslated lines in there.

In this ^ clip. The Subtitles read...

Attorney - See what your attorney does?
Attorney - I'll drive you home.

Attorney - This damned pollen,
Attorney - it won't let me sleep at night.
Attorney - But that's a zebra!
Attilio - Beautiful!

...but again there are clearly many untranslated lines.

The reasons for these two omissions is clearly because both scenes were removed from the US cut of the movie and so the English subtitle track I've downloaded is for that cut version... although weirdly it's still in sync before and after the extra scenes.

Thanks in advance for any help offered!

Oh, also in an early scene while Attilio is trying dismount from a camel the English subtitle has him saying "Ubruk!" (Which is not a English word) and the Italian dialogue sounds like the same word. Any idea what this word means (Google has been no help). It seems he uses the word like "Halt!".

Well, even if this was post quite some time ago, maybe it could still be useful... here you are the Italian transcription, along with my translation - corrected from Google translation, you know, I could be lazy sometimes! :D

---

- Conosce Attilio De Giovanni?
Il suo libro di poesie, "La tigre e la neve", mi ha proprio conquistato
- Sì, sì, lo conosciamo.
- Ci siamo incontrati tre anni fa, a Marsiglia. Eravamo insieme
nella giuria di un premio di poesia. Vero, Attilio?
Attilio? Dicevo di Marsiglia. Siamo stati bene?
Vittoria sta scrivendo la mia biografia. È' qualche mese che
la annoio raccontandole la mia vita di esule.

- Do you know Attilio De Giovanni?
His book of poems, "The Tiger and the Snow", has just won me.
- Yes, yes, we know it.
- We met three years ago, in Marseille. We were together
in the jury of a poetry prize. Isn't true, Attilio?
Attilio? I was talking about Marseille. Have we been fine?
Victoria is writing my biography. It'a few months that
I'm boring her, telling my life of exile.

---

- Scusa, ma io posso fare causa a loro? Causa al carcere,
che m'hanno tenuto lì tutta la notte. Gli faccio causa!
- Attilio, tu devi stare solo buono. Hai torto marcio,
non ti sei mai presentato. T'ho fatto avere il minimo.
Comunque, ora sistemiamo ogni cosa.
Oh, questo polline è una tortura, proprio. Non ci dormo la notte.
Mi guarderesti lì sotto se c'è un altro spray?
- Sì.

- Sorry, but can I sue them? Due to imprisonment,
thay kept me there all the night. I make them cause!
- Attilio, you must stay just as good. You're dead wrong,
you never presented. I done to have the least.
Anyway, now we settle everything.
Oh, this pollen is torture, right. I do not sleep at night.
I'd look down there if there is another spray?
- Yup.

---

In the movie, they say that Ubruk means "down" in Arabian.

Thanks for taking the time with the translation @"SpoRv" . As this was over a year ago, I solved the problem somehow but I can't remember how. I either found a translation, or I worked it out phonetically.

I managed to replace the Italian subtitle track on the blu-ray with my new English one using TSMuxer without re-encoding anything else. It was a present for my brother. He had bought the blu-ray by mistake, not realising it had no English translation. So now he's got a bonus disc that can be understood. The movie isn't quite up there with 'Life is beautiful' but it's close and an interesting take on the Iraq war.

Thanks again.
