There must be at least a few barbarians other than myself in this community, hence this thread.

a good analysis of the rousey v. holm fight. There be spoilers within.

i love mma and ufc. that fight was over as quick as her last fight

I have no interest in HCF (Human Cockfighting). Having said that, I used to live in Albuquerque, where Holly Holm lives. This was before anyone outside of Albuquerque knew who she was, but people there were nuts for her. There was a story in the paper or on the news about her practically every day. I can only imagine how crazy they are for her now.

Also, one time we were having dinner at a Mexican restaurant and she came in to eat. I think because of this fight, she's now the most famous person I've seen in public.

I got into MMA because of Gina Carano, but then she quit after one loss. I thought I found a new female fighter to follow with Rousey, but she's so BORING with her stupid armbar move. Plus she got a tattoo.

So I'm left without a fighter to follow.

I should probably watch this fight just to see Rousey get her ass kicked.

I've seen her name listed in some YouTube videos. Was she one of the fighters at the UFC 193 post-fight press conference? She sounded like she had an Eastern European accent, possibly Polish.

correct. polish chick. and a solid punishment-delivery specialist.

I used to be a big boxing fan, but got really turned off the sport about 10 years ago or so. No one was exciting to watch anymore and the amount of corruption and obvious match fixing was a joke. So I started watching UFC and loved it. I'll watch any big match and I know I'll be entertained. The recent Rousey fight was amazing. And good for her for cashing in on her 15 minutes while she had it. It will be interesting to see what happens in a rematch.

a great boxing match can be a thing of beauty, but for the most part, boxing lacks flow. a boxing ref is constantly breaking up clinches, making for a staccato spectator experience. MMA fighters are allowed to do their thing with minimal interference from the ref, as long as they're not pulling off disallowed moves, so they have enough space and time to find their combat groove.

what i also like about MMA vs. boxing: in MMA, if the headliners suck, there's a good chance that at least a few of the other 6 to 9 fights are going to rock on any given night.

agree, adabisi—a rousey-holm rematch is going to be interesting on many levels, particularly since holm was the only fighter to have given rousey serious competition.
