Blu-Ray Authoring

Hey,

So I've been working on a project for several months now (non fan-edit related). I've come to the point where I need to begin figuring out how to author a Blu-Ray disk for playback in a regular Blu-Ray player.

I've found that the frame rate should be 24... ?
What about encoder settings?
File format (mpeg?)?

What sort of bit-rates should there be for the video? Average and max?

I'm using Videopad for this. It has features built in for DVD-authoring but not blu-ray.

So,

I have this figured out. I've upgraded from Videopad 3.24 to 3.74, which has built-in authoring to Blu-Ray.

This is the option I've gone with.

Although, I've continued using 3.24 to edit with because the load times for importing videos is SIGNIFICANTLY shorter, and the render times are also SIGNIFICANTLY shorter.

However, when everything's done I'll use the latest version to create a blu-ray image, and then use ImgBurn to burn that.

I would like more information on this. Especially for mac workflow. I know Adobe Encore can author blu-rays, but I don't know much about it.

So I really want to make some bluray's for a couple of the fanedits I just got so add them to my collection. I have a macbook and want to know what is the best Bluray authoring software for macs? I don't really care about the cost, but from personal experience what do you think is the best as of Oct 2016?
