I thought I'd see if I can round up some OT and FE friends there. :) I've already had a peek at 005's lists and been able to jog my memory a bit.

Here's my profile page: http://letterboxd.com/ripplin/

Noticed some FanEdits in there.
Good deal!

Oh man, I've been looking for a site like this since forever. Will sign up for sure.

Here's my newest Letterbox'd challenge: 5 Directors, 5 Films - Volume IV

A few years back I saw a bunch of Letterboxers doing this challenge. The concept is simple; pick 5 directors and then pick 5 films from each that you've never seen. I try to choose a variety of filmmakers and genres and time periods, mixing up the classics with the contemporaries. I usually wrote reviews for each film but I burned myself out on Volume III, this time around I'm not going to rush through the list so that I can write decent enough reviews for each.

Here are my 5x5 for v4:

Peter Bogdanovich
Targets (1968), Paper Moon (1973), Mask (1985), The Thing Called Love (1993) and Hu$tle (2004)

Frank Capra
Mr. Deeds Goes To Town (1936), Lost Horizon (1937), You Can't Take It With You (1938), Mr. Smith Goes To Washington (1939) and Arsenic And Old Lace (1944)

Walter Hill
Hard Times (1975), Streets Of Fire (1984), Crossroads (1986), Another 48 Hrs. (1990) and Bullet To The Head (2012)

John Huston
Key Largo (1948), The Asphalt Jungle (1950), The African Queen (1951), The Life And Time Of Judge Roy Bean (1972) and Prizzi's Honor (1985)

Hayao Miyazki
My Neighbor Totoro (1988), Kiki's Delivery Service (1989), Princess Mononoke (1997), Spirited Away (2001) and Ponyo (2008)

If you're curious, check out my previous 5 Directors, 5 Films lists:

Volume I - John Ford, Alfred Hitchcock, Steven Spielberg, Werner Herzog, Lucio Fulci
Volume II - Robert Altman, Roger Corman, Akira Kurosawa, Roman Polanski, Billy Wilder
Volume III - Danny Boyle, Blake Edwards, William Friedkin, Ridley Scott, Orson Welles

^ Sounds like a Plan :). Here is my version. A lot of them are films that I own but haven't got around to seeing yet, so this is a good way to tick them off. To balance out one of Lang's film's being in two parts, I've gone for one by Romero and Argento, in which they directed half each:

Michael Powell:
1937 The Edge of the World
1940 The Thief of Bagdad
1951 The Tales of Hoffmann
1957 Ill Met by Moonlight
1966 They're a Weird Mob

Fritz Lang (then I'd have seen all his films between 1922 and 1933, plus his penultimate film:
1924 Die Nibelungen
1928 Spies
1929 Woman in the Moon
1933 The Testament of Dr. Mabuse
1959 "Fritz Lang's Indian Epic" (The Tiger of Eschnapur / The Indian Tomb)

Dario Argento (then I'd have seen all his films between 1970 - 1990):
1971 The Cat o' Nine Tails
1973 The Five Days
1980 Inferno
1985 Phenomena
1987 Opera

George A. Romero (then I'd have seen all his films between 1978 - 1990):
1978 Martin
1981 Knightriders
1982 Creepshow
1988 Monkey Shines
1990 Two Evil Eyes (twofer with Argento)

Guillermo del Toro (then I'd have seen 'em all):
1993 Cronos
1997 Mimic
2001 The Devil's Backbone
2002 Blade II
2006 Pan's Labyrinth

That's wonderful! I'm glad that you're hopping on board the 5x5 train :D. Excellent choices, I especially like your workaround for the double Fritz Lang films. I've seen half of these; all the Del Toro and Argentos, some of the Romeros and one Powell. Of what I've seen there, I personally liked "The Thief of Bagdad" and "Pan's Labyrinth" the best.

I also like that you're going for "completing the sets" on some of these, something I like to do as well (see: Directors Whose Entire Filmography I've Seen).

Here's my latest ranking list, the films of Bryan Singer.

1. The Usual Suspects (1995)
2. Apt Pupil (1998)
3. X2 (2003)
4. X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014)
5. X-Men (2000)
6. Bohemian Rhapsody (2018)
7. X-Men: Apocalypse (2016)
8. Superman Returns (2006)
9. Valkyrie (2008)
10. Jack the Giant Slayer (2013)

Why exactly did you want to make this list?

A few simple reasons. Firstly, I'm addicted to making Director Ranking lists on Letterbox'd. I just watched Bohemian Rhapsody, which finished Singer's filmography for me. He's directed 10 movies, which is usually my minimum requirement for making a Ranking list. I shared it here because why not.
