Cool concept and if it works well for you it's good to share tips. But I doubt this would be something everybody should do for every project. I personally would never do something like that, but my methods are different than yours so c'est la vie.

I'm not the editing police, so of course it is not for everyone. But I highly recommend it, specially if you've never tried it before. It give you a good sense of scope for the project, gets you in a habit of working on a budget, and keeps you from get bogged down in details, which leads to burn out.
