I just found this on Netflix and now I'm super excited. I grew up with the classic animated tale and may or may snag every copy of the book I find (not quite to the level of Jerry's Catcher In the Rye, but close). The opening scene is shadow box puppetry. The animation isn't topnotch, but hopefully they are able to do the story justice. Here's hop(p)ing.

Here's the trailer

I quite enjoyed this.  I know some people were bashing the animation, but it worked well for me.  I liked that it was able to take it's time and flesh out the characters a bit more using some of Richard Adams' other material.

I don't know that it replaces the original film, which moves me still, but I thought it was very well done.  Argh, John Boyega annoys me to no end, though.  He's such an over-actor.

I ended up leaving this one pretty quickly due to the animation. I guess I'm kind of a snob in that regard  :-/

I guess so.  I know a lot of people didn't like it, but I think there's very few cases that would turn me off a compelling story.  I couldn't get into Kubo & The Two Strings personally, so I guess that's my bit of snobbery.

Now see if Laika, the studio that made Kubo, made a Watership Down series I'd totally geek out over it :)
