Time is a flat circle...

I think it looks promising, but since it says virtually nothing about the plot or anything else, it's hard to judge. The look seems nice, though. Not too far off from the last season, but still obviously - and deliberately - something else entirely.

If nothing else, it settles my own nagging doubts about whether or not Colin Farrell (who I actively dislike, but I realise the man has some talent, at least) would be able to pull off middle-aged gruffness. Looks good to me.

I loved the first series, btw. Including the ending.

Haha, I used to dislike Colin Farrell, but he won me over with In Bruges. It will be interesting to see how this new season plays out. I think I can buy Vince Vaughn as a villain (didn't he play the bad guy in some movie where he was a stepdad or something). It will be pretty much impossible to live up to the first season but I have a feeling it will be entertaining nonetheless.
This looks good. I'm keeping my expectations low but really looking forward to June 21st.
Just finished the Season Premiere. Wow, what an episode! Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn have never been better. And I keep being impressed with the smart writing and awesome music.

Some thoughts...

I really didn't care for Rachel McAdam's family, it felt forced and too TV-cliche. Her sister's a web cam porn star and her father is a cult leader? I mean come on, are we going to find out that her mother was a crime lord or something?

When we first saw the car with the corpse and the crow, I thought "this feels very Lynchian" and then bam next shot they show a freeway sign for MULHOLLAND DRIVE.

I'm a bit wary of the four plotline structure, but glad they came together at the end. The weakest story so far is Vince Vaughn's, but maybe that's because he's not a true detective.

Holy fucking shit. Colin Farrell is insane. Best line of dialogue hands down, "You ever bully or hurt anybody again, I'll come back and buttfuck your father with your mom's headless corpse on this goddamn lawn."

Very much looking forward to the rest of the season.
i thought it was good
still too many stories going on in the premiere to keep track of things.
but looking forward to seeing how things develop.[Image: 5BgdaQd.jpg]

Thought and noticed the same thing! The first season had shades of Lynch so I'm sure it was intentional. Excited to see how things unfurl in the next few weeks.
Good stuff. This first episode is getting a lot of hate from critics (even complaining about the theme song, and I like Leonard Cohen, I agree it's not the best, but honestly who gives a shit about the theme song, mute it or DVR and fastforward through the opening credits, it has no effect on the actual story)

I liked it. They set it all up and established who these characters are, I was fine with that. Colin Farrell awesome. Vince Vaughn was good. I'm liking Rachel McAdams character. Wooden dummy for knife fighting, and the book of five rings and Hagakure (book of the samurai) on her table. Bad ass.

I dug the hell out of Episode 2. I really don't understand the hate for this season. I mean really, the only things different from Season 1 (so far) is that there are more characters/sub-plots and it's not told in a flashback narrative.
