Keo, you have been a huge part of all of that growth. Before The pandemic and now. You certainly encouraged me to see the possibilities of how great this family of faneditors could make this the premier community for nerds like us. You are one of the greats and one of a few who have inspired me!

It's a combination of several episodes of the television series edited into one movie?

There is another category for that (Best TV-to-Movie).

It qualifies for both, I believe. Just as Unbreakable Glass Split would qualify for multiple categories or the Shiny Thingy From Blue Yoda would.

Such interpretation of this category makes no sense to me, it should be reserved to real combinations, which shortened TV-show is not, but whatever, it won't win anyway :p

It could also qualify for Paradigm Award if a person is surprised that Spence was able to edit those episodes into a cohesive story on one episode.

Hey folks, know I'm late to this conversation but I just became aware of this. Just wanna say I'm incredibly flattered me and Keo's edit of the Wolverine ("The James Mangold Restoration") has been nominated in a category for faneditor of the year, and that I've been nominated for first time editor. Thank you for that.

I should mention (no shade, just a factor involved) that I was told at the time this edit went up, because of certain special outstanding circumstances, that I'm ineligible to actually have the faneditor banner on my profile... and therefore I may be ineligible for this nomination as well. I'm not asking my nomination be retracted in the first time editor category, but if it is the case I'm ineligible then I'd hate to potentially take away or threaten the ability for actually qualifying nominees to win. So if my nomination shouldn't be allowed in the first place, I'm okay if the powers that be decide to retract it.

All the same, thank you for nominating me and Keo's edit. I'm proud to have contributed something additive through this medium, and thank the people integral to making that happen. Among them, I thank @Wakeupkeo for helping see it to completion when it looked like it was going to fizzle out and die due to intervening life circumstances, as well as @DigModiFicaTion @slekyr @GelflingHand and @ChainsawAsh, who eagerly responded to my first ever help thread on this site when I started that edit nearly 6 years ago. I couldn't have done it without you all, so thank you. Thank you for this nomination, and I'm glad I was able to create something that resonated with all of you.

Thanks so much for the nomination for best new faneditor/fanedit. It's been a crazy journey! We have an awesome little community, and I'm grateful for it.

Could not be more honored to be considered for the extended cut category. Far and Away was a massive labor of love to work on, and it’s my dream to one day get the okay to work on the film and restore it officially. Congratulations and good luck to all of the nominees.
Your fanedit certainly deserved that. I wish you good luck with your next project. As long as this community stays together (or the feds will not come down knocking) I believe, that our work shall continue to flourish.

Man, I just wanna say... like, genuinely, keep working toward that.

I'd check out Walter Murch's various guides on editing if you wanna learn the various technical elements of it, with special emphasis on Avid keyboard shortcuts (since it's the most applicable/transferable within the film industry). Definitely learn about working with proxies, importing vs linking to hardrives, drp files, color correction vs grading, sound mixing in stereo and 5.1 as your main arsenal of skillsets. I'm not even being facetious, like, never give up on that. As someone who at one point took it as a given I'd never be able to work in film professionally (and now has for more than a decade), do not give up on that man. Like, think about it... you went to all this trouble and all this work to restore a film, and all the technical headaches that involves VOLUNTARILY. Without being asked. That speaks to something truly special, and that was the red flag that made ME realize working in film is what I should be doing with the rest of my life.

Not just anybody has that, my friend. That's something truly special, so always take care of that. There will be annoying, even discouraging, hardships along the way. There's no denying that, I've worked in this field professionally long enough to confirm it. But I promise that it only becomes certain it'll never happen when you stop working toward it. So keep working toward it, and you'll always still have a shot. Give yourself a chance, and you'll always have one.

Anyway, speaking as someone who didn't have anybody uplifting me when I started, just wanted to give you that kernel. It takes one to know one, and you are one. Never give up on that, you've already put so much into getting good at this, so keep going.
